Early registration discount offered through October 31.

In-depth study of thermal and membrane desalination technologies will be the focus of the IDA Desalination Academy’s upcoming course to be held on December 5, 2012 at the Hilton Hotel in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in conjunction with the Saudi Water & Power Forum (SWPF) 2012.

The intensive, day-long course will be organised into half-day sessions taught by some of the world’s leading experts in desalination technologies. The first half-day will cover membrane processes, while afternoon sessions will address thermal processes. In addition to the full day of training, which runs from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, the Academy is arranging for a complimentary, behind-the-scenes plant visit on December 6.

The Membrane Technologies sessions will be conducted by Master Teachers of the Academy:

Reverse and Forward Osmosis – Understanding and Control of Biofilm Formation

Professor Harvey Winters, Visiting Professor at Nanyang Technical University in Singapore, Research Associate Scientist at KAUST in Saudi Arabia, and Professor Emeritus at Fairleigh Dickinson University, USA

Design and Operation of Reverse Osmosis Plants in the Gulf

Nikolay Voutchkov, President, Water Globe Consulting, LLC, USA

The sessions on Thermal Processes will be conducted by invited lecturers of the Academy:

Advances in Multistage Flash Process (MSF)

Dr. Roberto Borsani, Director of Desalination, FISIA Italimpianti, Italy

Design and Operation of Multi-Effect Distillation Technology (MED)

Vincent Baujat, Managing Director, SIDEM, France

“The goal of the Academy is to inspire innovation and excellence. To this end, the upcoming course in Jeddah provides an unprecedented opportunity for managers and engineers, students and researchers to expand their knowledge in all aspects of thermal, membrane and hybrid desalination technologies. These sessions are designed so that participants take away real-world, practical information – in addition to theory – to enhance their professional development,” said Leon Awerbuch, Interim Dean, IDA Desalination Academy.

IDA is offering a discounted early registration fee of $1,000 US through October 31, a saving of $200 US. As of November 1, the registration fee will be $1,200 US. To register online, please visit www.idadesal.org.
